'A Salafi can be mutashaddid, mutasaahil or mu'tadil

None of that removes him from salafiyyah but it is desired that he should be mu'tadil in affairs.

Besides there are situations we ought to tashaddada or tasahhala, knowing those spots is by hikmah that comes from profound knowledge.

It should be noted that the basis of the Islamic Da'wah is rifq, being merciful to the people.

إنَّ الرِّفْقَ لا يَكونُ في شَيءٍ إلّا زانَهُ، ولا يُنْزَعُ مِن شَيءٍ إلّا شانَهُ

رواه مسلم

We would he however harsh against the people of bid'ah whose bid'ah we are sure of like the khawaarij (and all the offshoots like the takfeeriyyah), the shiah, the murjia, the ashaairah etc.

If a person of Sunnah falls into an act of bid'ah, we would first educate him very well until we see obstinacy in him and we are sure he is not relying on some nusoos which perhaps he is misinterpreting.

Let me add that tashaddud here is different from al-ghuluww. A mutashaddid is not a ghaalin by default but a ghaalin is a mutashaddid.

One can be mutashaddid (tough, stern, harsh) without being a ghaalin (someone going beyond the boundaries of the Shariah).

Nevertheless tashaddud where unnecessary (as it is common in the ta'aamul between the people of Sunnah today) is blameworthy.

Allaah knows best.'
