AlhamduliLlaah Wabi-hi Nasta’een.

Ash Shaykh Aboo ‘AbdiLlaahi Sa’eed Raslaan wrote:

Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah said:

From the preconditions of the repentance of the callers to the innovation are:

1) Explaining (explicitly) that, what he was previously upon was an innovation [in the Deen] and misguidance, and that the guidance was in its opposite. Allaah the Most Sublime made it a precondition of repentance of the People of the Book: those that their sin was “concealing of what Allah revealed in the clear evidence and guidance”, in order to misguide the people.

2) Rectifying their actions within themselves and explaining (explicitly) to people what they used to conceal, Allah the Most Sublime said:

“Those who conceal the clear (Signs) We have sent down, and the Guidance, after We have made it clear for the People in the Book,-on them shall be Allah's curse, and the curse of those entitled to curse,-Except those who repent and make amends and openly declare (the Truth): to them I turn; for I am Oft-Returning, Most Merciful. (Al Baqarah; 159-160) He(Ibn Qayyim) – may Allah be pleased with him - said:

As Allah made it a precondition for the acceptance of the repentance of the hypocrites, those that their sin was “corrupting the hearts of the weak believers, advocacy and alliance with the Jews and the pagans, the foes of the Prophet – sallaLlaahu ‘alayhi wasallam- , and acceptance of Islaam for showing off and fame.

3) Rectifying what they have spoilt and corrupted.

4) Holding onto Allah in replacement of their adherence to the unbelievers among the People of the Book and the pagans.

5) Purifying their Deen before Allah (alone), in replacement of their showing off and pride.

These are the preconditions for the acceptance of the repentance (of an innovator)in reality.
