Bismillaah-ir-Rahmaan-ir-Raheem
Dosing during the Khutbah of the Imaam on Jumu'ah is highly reprehensible. Ibn 'Aun reported from Ibn Seereen - rahmatullaah - that he said: 'They (the Sahaba) used to detest dosing while the Imaam delivered his Khutbah. They would speak harshly against it.'

It is therefore recommended for the person dosing during the Khutbah to change his place in the masjid; that would not be counted as disturbing others.

Ibn Umar - radiyallaahu anhu - reported from the Messenger of Allaah - sallallaahu alahyi wa sallam - that he said:

إذا نعس أحدكم في المسجد يوم الجمعة، فليتحول من مجلسه ذلك إلى غيره
'Whenever any of you doses in the masjid on the day of Jumu'ah, let him change his sitting to another place.'
Recorded by Abu Daawud, Ibn Hibbaan, Al-Haakim, al-Bayhaqee, Ahmad and others. The hadeeth is saheeh.

Said Ash-Shaykh Mash'hoor aal Salmaan - hafidhahullaahu: 'The wisdom behind that is that perhaps the change of position will ward off the sleep, or that there is a devil in the former place.'
