Explanation of the Perfect Names and the Lofty Attributes cont'd. 

[13] AL-WADŪD

Allah the exalted said:

وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ
"And He is Al-Ghafūr (the oft-forgiving) Al-Wadūd (the immensely affectionate)" - Surah Al-Burūj:14

Al-Wadūd
He is affectionate towards His pious slaves and He expresses His love for them through showering them with forgiveness and blessings, He is most pleased with them so He accepts their deeds and grants them assent (approval) on the land.

Points from the Exemplary Principles:

Bin Al-Uthaymeen said in Qawā'id al-Muthlā: "Disbelief (Ilhād) with reference to Allah's Names –the exalted– is deviating in whatever is obligatory regarding them, and this manifests in a number of ways: 

(1) To deny any of them or to deny what they indicate in attributes or ruling, just as the people of denial like the Jahmiyyah and other than them did regarding the Names of Allah. That is certainly ilhād in the obligation to belief in them (the names) and in whatever they indicate in ruling and attributes beffiting Allah, denying any of that amounts to deviation from what is obligatory regarding them."


[14] AL-WĀSI'

Allah the exalted said:

وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ
"And Allah is Wāsi' (Vast and Self-sufficient) Alīm (All Knower)" - Al-Mā'idah: 54

Al-Wāsi'
Vast in His Attributes such that none is capable of enumerating His praise, expansive in His grandeur and authority, vast in His forgiveness and mercy, extensive in His favor and goodness.

Points from the Exemplary Principles:

Bin Al-Uthaymeen said in Qawā'id al-Muthlā: "Disbelief (Ilhād) with reference to Allah's Names –the exalted–, is deviating in whatever is obligatory regarding them, and this manifests in a number of ways: 

(2) To make the names indicative of attributes which are similar to the attributes of the creations, like ahlu-l-tashbee (the people of comparison) have done, this is so because finding similarities in meanings for them is falsehood which cannot be proven from the texts of revelation, it is rather established upon its futility. Therefore making the names indicative of attributes similar to that of the creations is deviation in something which is obligatory regarding them.


 [15] AR-RAZZĀQ

Allah the exalted said:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ
"Verily Allah is Ar-Razzāq (the sustainer) the possessor of might Al-Matīn (the most strong)" - Adh-Dhāriyāh:58

Ar-Razzāq
A name which indicates the vastness of His provision for His creatures, praise be unto Him who provides for them before they ask Him, rather He still sustains them even while they disobey Him. 

Points from the Exemplary Principles:

Bin Al-Uthaymeen said in Qawā'id al-Muthlā: "Disbelief (Ilhād) with reference to Allaah's names –the exalted–, is deviating in whatever is obligatory regarding them, and this manifests in a number of ways: 

(3) To name (call) Allaah –the exalted– with names which He did not name Himself with, like the Christians gave Him the name 'Father' and the philosophers call Him 'The root cause of everything'. Because Allah's –the exalted– names are 'Tawqifiyyah' (restricted and requiring evidence before speaking regarding them), therefore naming Allah with names which He didn't name Himself with is straying in something which is obligatory regarding them, just as these names with which they had named Him with are absurd and Allah –the exalted– is far removed from them.
