Repeatedly I have thought of reclusing myself from the social media, alhamdulillaah I have achieved some good percentage downwards, you would notice I don't join issues on Facebook again, I observe a lot of chaos goes on there. The Smartphone is getting cheaper everyday, so more users are springing up.
A time is definitely coming when you will see less of me here, Inshaa Allaah. I just need to create some challenges for myself, a 'hermit' of a sort, no be say I wan become sufi o, may Allaah save me from that.
Nevertheless, this social media is a world of its own. Agreed, those not here are still much but the progression to this place is massive. Beside, a generation is coming who will live on the cyberspace.
The social media therefore is a phenomenon. Please don't wave it aside that it is nothing. Two communities in India once engaged in a ferocious war via messages that started on WhatsApp. The satanic forces make use of it to desseminate information therefore the forces of ar-Rahmaan should not sleep.
Above all, it is very difficult to evoke a ruling to nail the social media. Some reputable scholars tried to censure it in the past, but no way. Some scholars even have active handles on Twitter now and they are imparting knowledge. The issue has become, if you cannot beat them then join them (a two-edged principle though).
Therefore this social media is a front among the fronts of modern day warfare. If it is so, fight the war according to the rules of engagement as enshrined in the corpus of Islam. You will have to fight kufr, sins, heresies and other malaises.
Know the best tactics. Don't go after the soft spots. Don't harm the defenceless and non-combatants. Don't kill the clergymen of other faith. Don't destroy their places of worship.
Always take a long break to build your spiritual arsenal at home in the Qur'aan and Sunnah.
Know that being there is far'd kifaa'ee, when your time is done, give room for others.
Most especially don't forget your primary assignment, having the requisite knowledge.
And know that as a teacher, the traditional way of teaching vuz.masjid, madrasah, remains the most effecient and efficacious.
May Allaah aid us all in this battle.
