Sunday 11-Nov-2018, 9:47AM / 935

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said that when Khaybar was liberated, a gift of poisoned goat was made to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) thereafter said: 'Bring all the Jews that are here to me.' They were brought to him then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: 'I want to ask you about something; will you be truthful to me about it?' They replied in the affirmative mentioning his agnomen in the course. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: 'All of you, who is your father?' They replied: 'Our father is so-and-so.' Thereafter the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'You have told a lie. Your father is rather so-and-so.' They said: 'You have spoken the truth and you have done well.' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) still said: 'Will you be truthful to me (this time around) if I ask you about something (else)?' They replied in the affirmative also mentioning his agnomen in the process and added: 'Even if we have told you a lie as you have seen that regarding our father.' Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: 'Who will be the largest inmates of the Hellfire (among the people)?' They replied: 'We (the Jews) are going to be there for a short period of time then you will replace us there.' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instantly said: '(You will rather) perish therein; by Allah we are not going to replace you there.' Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: 'Will you be truthful to me (again this time around) if I ask you about something (else)?' They replied again in the affirmative. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Did you put poison in this goat (meat).' They said: 'Yes.' He said: 'What made you do that?' They replied: 'We wanted to get rid of you if you are a liar and that if you are truly a Prophet it would not hurt you .
