Translation: Abu Ubayy Hamzah Sharif

Questioner: As a woman; can I use pressing iron on my Jilbaab before putting it on?

Ustadh Qamardeen: (Cuts in) to iron her Jilbaab?

Questioner: (Can she) use iron to press her Jilbaab before putting it on?

Ustadh Qamardeen: 'What we understood from the question is, yes. But can we leave it unironed and go out with it like that? Or leave it rough and go out with it? The reason she asked is to know if that ironing won't be considered as an adornment. It depends on the type of material one buys and uses to sew the Jilbaab. However, ironing the cloth will make it attractive. Putting on rough cloths in our society is not acceptable. Is it good (to go out with rough cloths)? By Allaah, It is not good. So, ironing her Jilbaab to make it appealing to the eyes is good. Allaah knows best.
