The great Scholar, Ibnu-l-Wazeer al-Yamanee - may Allaah have mercy on him said:
"If the scholars, may Allaah be pleased with them, leave out defending the truth for the fear of what people may say they would have compromised a great deal and fear that which is inconsequential."
(Al-'Awaasim wal-Qawwasim: 1/223)
The great scholar Ibn Baaz - may Allaah have mercy on him - said in his explanation of the book al-Istiqaamah p.53:
"What is obligatory on the student of knowledge is to make a distinction between the filthy and the good, the truth and the false, the guidance and misguidance. Whoever he finds with misguidance he refutes him and warns against following him in that."
He also said in the explanation of the book al-Istiqaamah p.60:
"Whoever knows the truth and he knows the one who is correct and the error of the one who makes a mistake he has no excuse (but to clarify it)..."
The great Scholar and Jurist, Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan, may Allaah preserve, him also said:
"Are we going to see errors and remain silent while we leave the people confused?"
"No, this is never permissible. It is obligatory to clarify the truth from the falsehood, whether anyone is pleased or feels offended."
