Bismillaahir Rahmanir Raheem
Alhamdulillaah for Islam and Sunnah. Sunnah is power, Sunnah is light.
I make blogposts here not articles. I use my phone for this while I use my PC for that. It has been long I used my PC for the purpose. Man is getting busier.
May Allaah prolong my life and yours, I plan to start writing articles on topics like 'Evils of Feminism in the Muslim Society', 'What Jobs Can Muslim Women Do?', 'The Need for Muslim Husbands to Be On Guard,' etc. The articles may however never come because of my present preoccupation - I am into full-time Islamic learning and teaching, walhamdullillaah. I am however calling on brothers who can write better than I do, because I am still a learner in this foray, and who can write with the tongue of Qur'aan and Sunnah laced with the noor of the Salaf, that post qualifier is very important, to do so. You need to inject the views of the scholars of the time. On the condition that if you don't see me write about them at least a month's time, you take up the task.
We need to write about these topics at this time because there is a danger lurking. O Allaah, protect Your slaves.
If I don't write about them, may Allaah reward me for an intention to. And if you don't write too, may Allaah forgive you and me.
But if this platform remains, perhaps our children will pick up the task from where we stopped.
Yes the topic of this post...
It says 'When Things Go Wide, They Go Wild.' I had wanted to put 'Often' between 'They' and 'Wild' but I needed a rhythmic topic. That's what we learnt from the scholars.
Yes things often go wild when they go wide.
Allaah the Mighty said:
كَلَّاۤ اÙنَّ الۡاÙنۡسَانَ لَيَطۡغٰٓىۙ†۞
And yet, but yet man is rebellious,
اَنۡ رَّاٰه٠اسۡتَغۡنٰىؕ ۞
For he thinks he is sufficient in himself.
(Al-Alaq: 6-7)
Yes when he was poor he was very gentle but when he became rich he became wild. That often happens to those transforming from penury to opulence.
Another angle is this, Islam in Makkah had a hundred per cent righteous men and women in it, but few years after it got to Madeenah, some dirty people joined, those were the hypocrites.
That's how things are, often; at the monolithic level of any phenomenon, there is always cohesion and togetherness, but when it goes wide, it goes wild, often. 'Often' is the adverbial word of the day!
Hear the Messenger of Allaah - sallaallahu alahyi wa sallam - say,
Ùإنه من يَعÙشْ منكم Ùسيرى اختلاÙًا كثيرًا،
'Whoever lives longer among you shall see a lot of differences...'
(Recorded by Abu Daawud and others. Ash-Shaykh bn Baz authenticated it.)
So he - sallaallahu alahyi wa sallam - did tell the Sahaba that as things went on things would go wild.
Yes it became wild and awry! The Khawaarij, Shia, Jahmiyyah, Mu'tazilah, Qadariyyah, etc, all came. They almost destroyed Islam but Allaah used the people of Sunnah at various times to stop them. Sunnah won and they lost (hope you will understand now, that caller this morning). My readers, the words in the parenthesis are not for you.
How I wish I can go on with the episodic stages of Islam at all epochs. No time, I have a class to attend.
Ok let me fast-forward (apologies to Nigerian social media people).
Sunnah in Yoruba land passed through a lot of stages. I am more than forty, alhamdulillaah, at least I can say something about this.
Sunnah became vibrant in late 90's, before then it was scanty. Year 2000 above was the battle time, intellectual wise. May Allaah reward the players then, they are still players today. May Allaah continue to reward them. One of them told us at Oshogbo then, at Government Technical College, to be more specific, 'Brothers and Sisters, the Messenger of Allaah - sallaallahu alahyi wa sallam - said you should hold to the Sunnah with your molar teeth, some people are saying you should hold to it lightly; who are you going to obey?' Those 'some people' are still alive today but are not alive. May Allaah not cause us to die before our actual death.
الجاهل ميت قبل موته
'The ignorant one is dead before his actual death.'
At that stage, some people were skeptical about the Sunnah. Should they come on board or not? Some came in many others did not. And the battle went on. Do you think the battle will ever stop?
I can recall my university days at Ilé-Ifè (at this point, some will say 'no wonder' ). Yes that school, Allaah used it to mould us. May Allaah not make us relapse and may He drag some of us relapsing back (yes some of us are relapsing). I can recall that as an Imaam of the most vibrant students' masjid of the school (I learnt the masaajid are still under lock and key there, true?), I stood up one morning and addressed the congregation of brothers and sisters that the battle between the truth and falsehood is forever. That statement was antecedent to an intellectual battle between us and the fake sufis, on one hand, and the real sufis, on another hand. Do you know the 'real sufis?' They are the Tableegh. Ash-Shaykh Al-Albaanee - rahimahullahu - called them so. It was a year-long battle but alhamdulillaah.
So the Sunnah waxed on, in the general society I mean, afterwards until more people joined.
Alhamdulillaah the Sunnah is still waxing on, or let me say, it is going wide. So things are now going wild.
Those who could not sell their heresies when they were outside Sunnah want to sell them now that they are in. That's why you hear horrendous things here and there in the name of Sunnah which is not part of the Sunnah.
So if you think it is time to relax, far from that. Please get armed and let's fight on.
One of the ways horrible things are creeping in is through some women ascribing themselves to the Sunnah, we don't say they are not in the Sunnah but their actions often, it is our friend 'often' again, speak volumes (we were trained to avoid clichés (worn-out words) in our writings; I hope our trainers will pardon me for this).
Some of these women are committing fasad in the name of Sunnah. Haven't you seen some of them flying flyers about showing them and some kaafiraat organizing certain seminars on how to bring up kids, how to be this-and-that? Haven't you? Please fault me!
Some of you will say, leave them alone. Are you their husband? We will not leave them alone because they are desecrating the Deen of Allaah.
They were the people that first rose in 'defence' of our that sister who made that mistake when I dropped this piece. One of them, who is a fiction writer, came up with a fiction which which she called a clarification. I have made a retort about it here letting them know they are liars. Yet some of our men gullibly lined behind her especially those who claim they are intellectuals.
The Messenger of Allâh - sallaallahu alahyi wa sallam - said:
لا ÙŠÙÙÙ„ÙØ٠قَومٌ أسنَدوا أمْرَهم إلى امرَأةÙ
'A people who relinquish their affairs to a woman will not succeed.'
(Reported by Ahmad, Al-Bazzaar and other. Ash-Shaykh al-Ar'naoot declared the hadeeth as Saheeh. It also has a basis in Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree in a lengthy hadeeth.)
And they viscously called for my head and are still calling for it.
Alhamdulillaah, my head still dey!
And this morning I received a call from someone who was a former Christian, who is apparently appalled by my pieces which he arrogantly dubbed as unnecessary. He subjected me to a cross-examination. When he felt I would not buy his poo, he left a threat for me:
'You will hear from me.'
I say to him: Rubbish nonsense!
(Apology to our Shaykh who used to utter this statement. The guy is just leaving his priorities in a disarray. That he first learns what Islam is really is, not what his Bible-warrior hizb tells him it is Islam, is better for him before he starts talking about Islam).
Al-Imaam Al-Bukhaaree said, rahimahullahu, 'Chapter: Knowledge Precedes Statements and Actions.'
I am going to class jare.
