Muhammad bn Seereen was a jovial person, he would sometime laugh with water coming out of his eyes. As for Al-Hasan Al-Basree, he would hardly smile or laugh, not to talk of making funny statements.
Both were contemporaries and resident of Basra, in Southern Iraq, and were great scholars of this Ummah.
They both met and reported from some Companions of the Messenger of Allaah - sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
May Allaah bestow mercy on both.
