In Response to the Ustaadh Refuting Al-Ibraaz

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
I just watched a short video clip of one of the Asaatidhah of Sunnah whom of late has been pandering to a side we had wished he ran away from - the bloc in Ilorin (and its cronies in Lagos) focused on removing any scholar of sunnah, local or abroad, who fell into one perceived bid'ah or two.

The Ustaadh, in the video, was emotionally 'counselling' some duaat of Sunnah whom he said are dishing out some information that may harm the Dawah in a very near tomorrow, in his thought.

He was actually reacting or refuting, though mildly, a recent release by one of the teachers of Sunnah in Yorùbáland who brought instances in the lives of some Salaf where they pardoned one another on their errors, or where they had different views on individuals and never forced their opinions on one another whereby they would say whoever did not go by their individual views should be treated like the individuals being disparaged.

That Ustaadh said such a release would harm the Da'wah in future!

His that view is nothing but a laughable one. In fact extremely jaundiced and misplaced.

For instance he said raising the issue of Al-Imaam Qataadah bn Di'aamah as-Sadoosee, rahmatullaah, is beyond what any student of knowledge should do today!

The isuue is that of Ilzaam. The Ustaadh is one of those people that would say the Salaf were upon the fact that every person of heresy, irrespective of whether he is a person of Sunnah or not, should be thrown away.

We said no, there were some people among the Salaf that fell into one issue or the other but whom other Salaf excused.

That is the matter. So what is the offence there?

You paint a picture that every person that fell into Bid'ah were thrown away, that that is what the Salaf were upon. We said no, that is not general. Please where is the problem?

We quoted:

'Al-Imaam Alee bn Al-Madeenee said, I said to Yahya bn Saeed: Abdurrahman said:

اترك من كان رأسا في بدعة يدعو إليها
'Shun every head of heresy that calls to it.'

Yahya said:
ÙÙƒÙŠÙ يصنع بقتادة ØŒ وابن أبي رواد وعمر بن ذر
'Then what will you do about Qataadah, Ibn Abee Rawwad, Amr bn Dharr and others?'

He said further:
إن ترك هذا الضرب ترك ناسا كثيرا.
'If you abandon the likes of these people you would abandon a lot of people.' (Tahdheeb at-Tahdheeb: 5/657)' End of quote.

You said we ought not to let people be aware that such things existed in the books of the Salaf yet you endlessly lie (not the Ustaadh particularly) against the Salaf that they would throw away every person of bid'ah.

We said no, there were big scholars of Sunnah who fell into some bid'ah (or were accused, as the case may be) but whom the Ummah pardoned, you said we are sending a dangerous message that can 'harm' the Da'wah tomorrow.

Yes, it will harm your Da'wah not that of the Sunnah!

We said Al-Imaam Dhahabee - rahimahullah - said about Ikrimah al-Barbaree - rahimahullah

'الذين أهدروه كبار والذين احتجوا به كبار والله أعلم بالصواب
'Those who abandoned him were great scholars and those who accepted him were also great scholars. Allaah knows what is more correct.' As-Siyar 5/35'

You said such truth should not be revealed.

Yes, agreed it is not everything that should be narrated. Agreed. Li kulli maqaam maqaal. But there is a maqaam for this now. We would not look on while you plunge our youths into ifraat as Jabata did last time with his one face kull bid'atin kufr.

Beside this is not the first time we would mention happenings like this among the Salaf.

Shaykh Abu al-Barakaat - hafidhahullaah - has always been mentioning the issue of Al-Imaam Muhammad bn Yahya adh-Dhuhulee and Al-Imaam Al-Bukhari when necessary.

Our Honourable Shaykh Al-Allaamah Rabee bn Umayr al-Madkhalee - hafidhahullaah - once cited the issue of Al-Imaam Muhammad bn Yahyaa where it was necessary.

So, Ustaadh, whenever it is necessary we would mention those issues to let you know that you are wrong to streamline the way of the Salaf to your own (and that of your friends) view alone.

This may pain you now or later. There is nothing we can do about that. We need to check one another. When you check us we will check you, then we all make amends. Alhamdulillah nobody is a monopoly of this knowledge. You know some things while others know some others.

So don't ever, ever, think you can emotionally blackmail us into silence.

As a matter of fact we got a lot to say and release, we only watch the situation of things.
