The principles that bind the Muslims are well-known. Forming new principles and statements at variance with the Two Revelations is heresy. Loving and hating over those baseless principles are from the ways of the heretics who split the Muslims.
Unfortunately, in these new partisanships, this is one of the insignias.
Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah - rahimahullaah - said:
'The religion of the Muslims is built on following the Book of Allaah, the Sunnah of His Prophet ï·º and what the Ummah agrees upon. It is these three principles that are error-free. Whatever the Ummah may disagree about (after these three) should be referred to Allaah and His Messenger ï·º. It is not permissible for anybody to place down a figure whose path he calls to such that he loves and hate over that path other than the path of the Prophet ï·º. It is also not permissible for him to establish a speech, other than the Speech of Allaah and His Messenger's, and what the Ummah agrees upon, for them upon which he loves and hates. Doing that is from the actions of people of bid'ah those who would place down a figure or a speech with which they split the Ummah, loving and hating over that speech or ascription.'
