Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (d.1328CE) - rahimahullaah - said:
'Indeed all what is in the Qur'aan of Verses of Sifaat, the Sahabah did not differ as to not changing their meanings. I have perused all the commentaries of the Qur'aan reported from the Sahabah, and what they reported of hadeeth. I read as much as Allaah would wish me to, of the books of the elderly and young scholars, as far as more than a hundred books of Tafseer, I did not see, till this present time, that any of the Sahabah of changed the meaning of the Verses or Ahadeeth of Sifaat to mean meanings other than what those Verses and Ahadeeth indicate.'
