عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَامِنَا وَفِي يَمَنِنَا قَالَ قَالُوا وَفِي نَجْدِنَا قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَامِنَا وَفِي يَمَنِنَا قَالَ قَالُوا وَفِي نَجْدِنَا قَالَ قَالَ هُنَاكَ الزَّلَازِلُ وَالْفِتَنُ وَبِهَا يَطْلُعُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ
Ibn ‘Umar (may Allâh be pleased with him) said the Messenger of Allâh (salaLlâhu alayhi wa sallam) said:
‘O Allâh, bless us in Shâm (the Greater Syria), bless us in Yaman (Yemen)! They said: O Messenger of Allâh, (mention) Najd (that is, Iraq) too! The reporter said: At that, I thought the Messenger of Allâh (salaLlâhu alayhi wa sallam) said again: O Allâh, bless us in Shâm (Greater Syria), bless us in Yaman (Yemen)! and added: (as for where you mentioned, that is Iraq), that is where tremor and tribulations (will come from upon the Ummah), and that is where the Horn of the Devil will appear.’ End of quote from Sahîh Al-Bukhârî.
Ibn Hajar (may Allâh bestow mercy on him) said in Fat’h: Al-Muhallab said: ‘The Messenger of Allâh (salaLlâhu alayhi wa sallam) did not supplicate for the people of East (that is, Iraq) so that they would lessen the evil that will appear in their direction, to be instigated by Shaytan.’
Ibn Hajar (may Allâh bestow mercy on him) also said: ‘The spring of tribulations (for the Ummah) is from the East (that is, Iraq). This had happened.’ End of quote.
And it is still happening!
