Teachers of Sunnah and Their Idiosyncrasies

Some teachers are stern, some are soft, some are stern-soft.

Some will allow students pick calls in their special classes while some will talk to your head of you dare do so.

Some of them when they see that you are all yawning in class will take you to the nearest cafeteria to feed you to the fill.

If you doze off in the class of some of them they will ask the nearest student to tap you and wake you up, and if you dare do that in some other classes, wa gbọ to rí ẹ.

If you don't know how to ask questions in the class of some of them, you will have yourself to blame, while in the class of others you are even allowed to do some mild munaqasha with them.

Of course, when your stern teachers 'deal' with you, it will hurt you (there is none it will not hurt) but just take it with good heart, if you say you are leaving you may 'leave' forever.

(Some people forsook their teachers for their 'sterness' and today they are living in regret)

Students will pass through all of these categories of teachers. All of these categories speak to the pubiic. We need to understand each of them for what they are.

They all have their usefulness, all of them can't be tough tough, or soft soft. They all balance the equation.

If we should go into the history of our Salaf we would all see this in their lives. Some of them were stern while some were soft.

But note that some teachers can fall into errors in their 'softness', as some fall into errors in their 'toughness'. Those 'errors' are not what we should all form al-waraa wal baraa upon.

It is however generally a sin to follow any teacher upon his error whether out of his 'softness' or 'toughness.'
