Islam forbids all forms of extremists – lassitude and exaggeration in worship. Whoever goes overboard in his matter of worship may later find himself to blame. His lot may become like those Christians who became forgotten in monasteries, and those Jews in Synagogues.
The Messenger of Allaah – salallaahu alahyi wa sallam – said:
‘Do not be too hard on yourselves, those who were before you got destroyed when they were hard on themselves. You can find their remnants in synagogues and monasteries.’
See As-Saheehah: (3124).
Islam does not forbid the use of good things of this life. There is time for worship, there is time for other things.
We should live a life of justice to oneself and others.
