Translation and annotation: Ishaaq bn AbdirRaheem Aboo Aamir
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
Indeed, Allaah the Mighty Lord has a lot of armies with which He does what He wishes, only Him knows them all. He the Mighty says in the Qur’aan:
وَمَا يَعۡلَم٠جÙÙ†Ùودَ رَبّÙÙƒÙŽ Ø¥Ùلَّا Ù‡ÙÙˆÙŽÛš
And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him.
Mudaththir: 31
Among those uncommon soldiers are the locusts!
On the authority of Abu Az-Zuhayr an-Numayree, the Messenger of Allaah – salallaahu alahyi wa sallam – said:
" لا تقتلوا الجراد ØŒ Ùإنه جند من جنود الله الأعظم "
‘Do not kill the locusts; they are from the armies of Allaah the Mightiest.’
Graded as as-Saheeh by al-Albaanee in as-Silsilah As-Saheehah: 5/554.
Whoever has seen the locusts in action will surely know that they operate based on orders.
