When you shun the evil people and the evil they do and you get busied with yourself, you can never suffer any loneliness with Allaah, the Mighty.
Shuayb bn Har'b - rahimahullaah - narrated: 'I entered upon Maalik bn Mighwal (d.158 H.) while he was sitting alone in his house in Kufah. I said: Don't you feel lonely in this house?' He replied:
'I don't think anyone can feel lonely with Allaah the Mighty and Sublimest.'
Commenting on the above, Al-Imaam al-Khattaabee - rahmatullaah alayhi - said:
'What a lofty height is this! What a lofty station! What a wonderful gift! He will never feel lonely with Allaah whoever spends his heart on loving Allaah, takes delight in remembering Him, gets used to communing with Him in secret, busies himself from other than Him. Such is the one that enjoys His company even while alone and enjoys loneliness with Him.'
