Fourth Episode
Hasten O you liberal,
To that which sweetens the bitterness
For your life is becoming frail,
And you desist not from dispraise.
Do not rely on the passing day
Even if it is lenient and gladdens (you)
Else you end up deceived,
By the snake that spits venoms.
And shun prideful decline (of the truth),
When fortunes follow your striving
And restrain your mouth from its excesses,
How fortunate is he who restrains!
And ease the burden of the depressed
And believe him when he divulges (his problem)
And prepare (for yourself) good deeds
For he is successful, who does good deeds.
And clothe the ragged one
With what is common and limited
And grieve not about the deficit
And live not to garner wealth.
