A Muslim platform, The Muslim Care Initiative Forum, a humanatarian subsidiary of The Muslim Merchants, Ede, Osun State Nigeria, has sought voluntary donations from the members of the public for a former wine seller, Mrs Sherifat Olaide Adeniran, whose husband had died since 2007.
In a release made available to the public on 21st day of Rabiul Awwal, 1440 (1st day of December), the Forum said the woman used to sell alcoholic beer in the main market of Ede, that the business 'flourished' such that its worth could be placed at N3m at a time. That she decided to stop the trade out of repentance to Allaah.
The release further said that a close brother to the widow brought her case to the office of The Muslim Care Initiative Forum, Ede, for assistance. The officials of the forum then invited her for a chat after some well known persons had attested to her case.
In the release, the woman was reported to have closed down her present shop and put all her trust in Allaah the All-Enricher. That she says feels embittered when people refer to her as 'Alhaja liquor seller.'
"We think we can help her together. Let's make what the Messenger of Allaah salallaahu alahyi wa sallam said about people like her come to fruition, 'that whoever leaves a haram thing because of Allaah, He will provide a better alternative,'" says the report.
The report says further, 'she is about 55 years old, ordinarily we would have said she should sit at home but someone from such a background needs to be placed on something; she is an example of a person to be endeared to Islam the more. And her children are just entering into life.'
The release says the widow wants to start selling soft drinks in packs. And for the rent and other logistics, it wants to raise N300,000 and above for her.
The Forum says all donations for the woman should be sent to: The Muslim Merchants Ltd, 3074589978, First Bank Plc, and any money sent should be coded 'Sherifat Fund.'
Meanwhile in an update given by the spokesman of the Forum, Aboo Musa, on 27th Rabiul Awwal (5th December, 2018), via his WhatsApp account, the sum of N22,000 has been realized so far.
The release says the woman can be reached on 08166060040 and the spokesman on 07032462945.
