Al-Ustadh Ibraheem AbdurRauf, popularly known as Aboo Naasir, has charged all Muslims upon pristine Islam to make their attribution to Salafiyyah a reality and not a mere claim. He gave this charge during a session of the Knowledge Builder Course (KBC) of the Deen Communication Ltd held at Lagos State Secretariat Hall, Ikeja, Lagos.

While illustrating the level of calmness which the Salaf (pious predecessors) assumed during Salah, the erudite scholar mentioned that Ibn Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) had a line on his cheek out of repeated weeping in Salaah and similar was the case of Abubakr and 'Umar. Therefore, it behooves a serious Salafi to imitate his predecessors in this aspect of worship as this will make his claim to Salafiyyah a reality.

According to him, the fact that Salaah (Prayer) occupies an important place in our religion can not be gainsaid. How could it even be otherwise when the Prophet had said already that the first of man's deeds for which he will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection will be Salat?

It however saddens the heart that Muslims -especially the distracted youths - have been neglectful of this act of worship so much that they rarely ensure humility during it. According to Aboo Naasir, one of the causes of this negligence is the preoccupation of Muslims with frivolities that are mostly perpetrated over the Internet. He then emphasised that the required level of calmness can be attained during Salaah by bringing the fearful consciousness of Allah in our daily activities.
