The popular supplication at breaking fast that goes thus:
اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ
Allaahumma laka sumtu wa ‘ala riziqika aftar’tu.
(Oh Allâh! I fasted because of You and upon Your provisions I break my fast).
The hadith was reported by a not well-known Taabi’yy, Muâdh bn Zuhrah.
Thus there is a cut between him and the Prophet – salaLlâhu alayhi wa
sallam. See Al-Ir’wâ [4/38] of al-Imâm al-Albânî (may Allâh bestow mercy
on him).
