The Message of Suratul Faatihah (12) - Madaarijus Saalikeen

Ramadan Day Fourteen

The Opening Chapter also contains the Three Forms of Tawheed which all the Messengers of Allaah agreed upon.

The First Two Forms are: (1) Tawheed Fil Ilmee wal 'Itiqaad, (2) Tawheed Fil al-Iraadah wal Qasd.

The Second Form further divides into two: Tawheed fir Ruboobiyyah and Tawheed fil Ilaahiyyah.

Ibn Qayyim - rahimahullah - said with that they form three.

Tawheed fil Ilm revolves round affirming the Perfect Attributes of Allaah for Him, and freeing Him from all forms of likening and comparisons, as well as cleansing Him from faults and weaknesses.

The above is illustrated by two indicators (in the Opening Chapter): of Mujmal and Mufassal.

Mujmal is Conciseness while Mufassal is Extensiveness.

The word Al-Hamd is concise in meaning and it means that the limitless praise is for Allaah. That usage of Mujmal

While the Attributes of Divinity, Lordship, Mercy and Power (in lillaah rabbil aalameen, Ar-Rahmaanir Raheem Maaliki Yaumid-Deen) explain the forms of Mujmal contained in al-Hamd. That is the Mufassal

The four words are what all the Names of Allaah and His Attributes revolve round.

Therefore al-Hamd implies praising Allaah the Mighty with all the Perfect Attributes with love, pleasure and devotion.

One has not praised Allaah if he denies those Attributes, neither is he who turns away from loving Him with devotion.

All praise is therefore for Allaah, and only He knows them all.

Allaah dispraises the idols the mushrikoon worship and strips them of His Attributes. He said they can't hear, see, talk or guide. They can't bring any benefit or harm.

This is how the Jahmiyyah describe their own god too. That it can't hear, see, guide or whatever (whereas Allaah hears, sees, guides and brings benefits).

Even the idolaters of old - like the father of Prophet Ibrahim - knew that Allaah could hear, see, guide etc. Therefore they know Allaah more than the Jahmiyyah.

But someone can say 'but Allaah does not talk to His slaves in what everybody can see, how is He different?'
