Ramadan Day Twenty-Two

Between Ilaahiyyah and Ruboobiyyah

In the Three Names, 'Allaah', 'ar-Rabb' and 'ar-Rahman' there is a connection between Creation and Command, so also the way the Three Names unite the people and the same time split them.

The Name 'ar-Rabb' is a unifier, it unifies all the creation. It implies that Allaah is the Lord of everything, He is the Creator and the One that has power over His creation.

That nobody can free himself from being under His Watch. Thus everything in the heavens and on earth are slaves to Him. They are within His Grip and under His Control.

But when we say He is 'Allaah', and by implication that only He is worthy of worship, the people split here.

It is only the successful ones that will take Him as One in worship, only they will affirm for Him that there is none worthy of worship beside Him, Whom all forms of worship are only eligible to.

So Ilaahiyyah splits the people into two: those for Jannah and those for Jahannam.

The matters of the Deen, Laws, Dos and Don'ts are all of Ilaahiyyah, while the matters of creation, causing to exist, sustenance and actions are of Ruboobiyyah.

Reward with Jannah, punishment by Jahannam are matters of Mulk - His Control on the Last Day.

So Allaah the Majestic commands the people to worship Him Alone, He then aided them (with sustenance) and granted them guidance or otherwise, this under His Ruboobiyyah. He will also reward or punish them, this under His Control and Justice.

All the above facts of Allaah's Doings are interwoven.

The connection between Allaah and His slaves is Rahmah - Mercy. It was for that reason He sent the Messengers, and revealed the Books.

It is by His Mercy that He shows them the way and will make them enter His Home of Bliss.

It is also by His Mercy He sustains and pardons them.

So from them to Him is to worship Him, and from Him to them is to show them Mercy.
