Ramadan Day Twenty-Eight

Levels of Guidance (6): Al-Bayaan al-Aam (General Proof)

Al-Bayaan al-Aam is to differentiate the truth from falsehood with proofs and explanations such that it will seem as if the heart could see them as the eyes see things.

This level is about the Proof of Allaah over His creation, upon which Allaah will not punish or cause any to go astray except when those proofs get to the fellow and he rebuffs them.

Allaah will cause a person to go astray when His proofs get to him and he rejects them. That causing to go astray will serve as a punishment for him.

This is a big secret in the issue of Qadar - preordainment. When you grasp this, you will save yourself from a lot doubts and illusions around the issue of Qadar. You will come to realise the Infinite Wisdom of Allaah in causing some of His slaves to go astray.

Quraan talks about issues like this in many places.

Allaah says He caused the hearts of the Jews to deviate after they deviated themsleves. (as-Saff: 5)

He also said the Jews said they had made up their minds about the message of Allaah, that their hearts were in a wrapping; Allaah said He then sealed off their hearts for that reason.

If a person sees the Faith and turns away from it, Allaah will cause his hearts to deviate, and their sights to go blind.

Ponder over this in the best of ways.

He said He guided the Thamud but they preferred blindness to guidance, so they became misguided. (Fussilat, 17)

However it is by the Leave of Allaah a person becomes guided even after the proofs reach him. That Leave is the Utmost Guidance from Allaah called at-Tawfeeq.

Proofs can be divided into two: the ones in books and the ones in the environment. Each of the proofs point to Oneness of Allaah, His Names, Attributes and Perfection.

The proofs also point to the truth of what the Prophets came with.

Allaah therefore calls His slaves to ponder on what they can see around them as He asks them to ponder on what He revealed to the Messengers.

Allaah sent the Prophets with those Proofs, and the scholars succeeded the Prophets over that. After this, He causes whomever He wishes to go astray.

The Messengers (then their inheritors) explain the proofs of Allaah to the people, then Allaah guides whomever He wishes after that or causes him to go astray, all this with His Honour and Wisdom.
