Answering the Apostate, Malik's Odyssey, on VDM's Challenge

Wednesday 11-Jun-2025, 3:50AM / 34

Malik, in a bid to help his Christian friends out of the quagmire raised by one popular Nigerian social media influencer called VeryDarkMan, went on his usual shenanigans to assuage and salvage the lost sheep of the house of Christendom.

Malik searched for about three riffraff on TikTok misbehaving, doing 'normal' TikTok business in the name of Islam, to claim these were examples of Imams manipulating Muslims in mosques to rip them off their money.

Malik, will you say you don’t know that Wèrè Ọlọ́hun (madman of God) that you cited as an example? It is most likely that you are out of your mind too.

Having failed in that challenge, for you really coveted the prize attached to it, smart guy, you then resorted to twisting a verse of the Qur’an (just one verse, fa!) and some Hadith facts.

So, in the entire Qur’an, Malik, the only verse you could cite as an example of how Prophet Muhammad ﷺ supposedly tried to devour people’s wealth is this? Shame on you.

You cited the verse below:

"O you who have believed! When you [wish to] privately consult the Messenger, then offer charity before your consultation. That is better for you and purer. But if you do not find [the means], then indeed Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." (Surah Al-Mujādilah, 58:12)

One, even the context of the verse does not say the believers should give the charity to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before the private counsel. The context can be understood to mean, "give charity (even to the poor) before consulting me."

It is a fact that only ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (radiyallāhu ‘anhu) understood it as sending the charity beforehand to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—which most probably was rejected, because the Messenger ﷺ would not accept people’s charity for himself or for the members of his family. He said charity is the dirt from people’s wealth.

Narrated Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه):

Al-Hasan ibn ʿAlī once took a date from the dates given in charity and put it in his mouth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him:

“Kikh! Kikh! Spit it out! Don’t you know that we do not eat from charity?” — [Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 1069]; also in [Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 1491]

Another narration:

Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) said:

"Whenever the Prophet ﷺ was brought food, he would ask about it. If he was told that it was a gift, he would eat from it. If he was told that it was charity, he would not eat from it." — [Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 1490]; also found in Sahih Muslim

Shame on you, Malik, for not telling your gullible audience this fact.

So, it was only ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (radiyallāhu ‘anhu) who understood it that way. Yet, the verse was abrogated in its wider terms, and Muslims could then carry on with their private counsels with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—but with the understanding of what the first verse was emphasizing: make it short, important, and relevant.

Allah said:

"Were you afraid to give charity before your private consultation? So when you did not do so—and Allah has turned to you in mercy—then [at least] establish prayer, give zakah, and obey Allah and His Messenger. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do." — Surah Al-Mujādilah (58:13)

The message had been passed and understood. So no qualms.

Malik painted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as a lover of dunya and wealth—while he knows deep down that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the most abstemious of all people.

Malik, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was not just a Prophet, he was a head-of-state. If you like, call him an emperor, fa. He had no presidential palace, no presidential guards, no convoy—nothing. His Companions suggested that he be treated like the neighboring kings and emperors of Persia and Rome, but he said no.

He forbade them from rising before or bowing to him. If a stranger entered Madinah, they would hardly distinguish him from his Companions where he sat.

Malik, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had no designated salary or allowances.

You talked about war booties (ghaneemah or fay’) that he used to enrich himself from. Poor you.

Prophet-kings, like Moses, Solomon, David, etc, before him also 'pillaged' the cities of the enemies of God and seized their wealth.

Help me share these with your hypocritical Christian friends:

The Lord said to Moses, ‘Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.’” (Numbers 31:1–2)

“Divide the spoils between the soldiers who went to battle and the rest of the community.” (Numbers 31:27)

“David took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, ‘This is David’s plunder.’” (1 Samuel 30:20)

“The share of the one who stays with the supplies shall be the same as the share of the one who goes down to battle.” (1 Samuel 30:24)

Malik, shame on you.

The laws of Islam regarding war booties are no different. In every war fought, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was entitled to part of the one-fifth (khumus) of the spoils, and Allah told him how to distribute that one-fifth:

“And know that whatever you acquire of war booty (ghanimtum min shay’)—then indeed, for Allah is one fifth of it, and for the Messenger, and for [his] near relatives, the orphans, the needy, and the traveler—if you believe in Allah and in what We sent down to Our Servant on the Day of Criterion (the day when the two armies met). And Allah is over all things competent.” — Surah Al-Anfāl (8:41)

Malik, you can't beat it.

Zakah is a pillar of Islam. No proceeds from it are lawful for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ or any member of his family—including his wives.

Do you know what that has curbed?

Show me any state law like that, O miserable soul.

See this:

Narrated Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه):

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

'The wealth will come to you from Bahrain until even a handful will trouble no one.'

And indeed, the wealth came from Bahrain. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

'Spread it out!'

And it was the largest amount of wealth that ever came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He began distributing it to everyone he saw, without turning anyone away. He did not get up until not a single dirham remained." — [Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 3083]; [Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 2312]

Narrated ʿUqbah ibn al-Ḥārith (رضي الله عنه):

The Prophet ﷺ once prayed the ‘Asr prayer and then quickly left, entering the house of one of his wives. Then he came out and saw that the people were surprised by his haste. He said:

"I remembered a piece of gold (or a gold nugget) that we had, and I did not want it to remain with us overnight, so I ordered that it be distributed." — [Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 851]; also in Sahih Muslim

Shame on you, Malik.

This was a Prophet of Allah whose family members would go for weeks without eating anything substantial.

Do you know his wives, from their human side, complained, and Allah gave them options?

In Surah al-Ahzab (28-29), Allah the Mighty Lord said:

'O Prophet! Say to your wives: “If you desire the life of this world and its glitter, then come! I will provide for you and let you go graciously.”

But if you desire Allah, His Messenger, and the Hereafter, then truly Allah has prepared for the good-doers among you an immense reward.'

The righteous women chose the Hereafter. May Allah be pleased with them.

You also spoke nonsense about the Islamic institution of jizya. Poor you.

Jizya is the tax non-Muslims are required to pay in an Islamic country for their protection, safety, and guaranteed freedom of religion. It also exempts them from military duties.

It is only adult men who pay it.

Poor you.

You told VDM that if Muslims get hold of him, they would 'kpai' him. That is gaslighting us, o.

That is the lie you people spread: that Muslims know nothing but killing. Yet Christians are having a nice time in Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Riyadh, etc.

Shame on you.

Except in acts of war, it is forbidden for Muslims to harm a Christian or a Jew—let alone kill him.

Malik, tell your gullible Christian audience about the Islamic rulings on dhimmī, muʿāhad, and mustaʾman. I dare you.

In fact, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said such a Muslim will not enter Jannah (let me leave it literally):

“Whoever kills a person who has a treaty (muʿāhad) with the Muslims will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance can be perceived from a distance of forty years.” — [Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 3166]

“Whoever kills a dhimmī (a non-Muslim under Muslim protection) unjustly, Allah will forbid Paradise for him.” — [Ahmad (23467); Abu Dawud (2760)], classified as sahih by Shaykh al-Albani

“Whoever gives a covenant of safety to a man and then kills him, I am free from him—even if the one killed is a disbeliever.” — [Sunan Abu Dawud (2761)], hasan by al-Albani

We Muslims and Christians in Nigeria are under a mutual covenant to live together, so it is haram for any Muslim to harm a Christian or any non-Muslim.

A Muslim, however, will act in self-defense.

You also ranted about Muslims trying to seize the wealth of the Quraysh that passed through Madinah territory. Poor you.

Should they have missed the opportunity to recover some of the wealth forcefully taken from them—homes, farms, livestock?

You and your hand-clapping Christian friends have no sense.

I told you: the more you claim to know Islam, the more we will expose your ignorance, Inshaa Allaah.
