Ash’ahad an laa ilaa-ha illa Llaah wa anna Muhammadan rasooluLlaah.
All praise to Allâh the Lord of the worlds; He guides and misguides whomever He wishes. Whoever Allaah has guided nobody can misguide; and whomever He misguides nobody can guide. We ask Him to guide us and these people fomenting trouble in South-West Nigeria; the followers of Muhammad Awwal Jabata, the Philosopher. Indeed, it has become very glaring that they are the most dangerous people to the people of Sunnah in the region just as their haddaadi-teachers, outside, are the most dangerous upon the call to ‘what the Messenger of Allaah and his companions were upon.’ It is very sad that they go about parading themselves as Salafees.
The Jabtawis, who now share some great features with the global Jama’ah Takfeer [the people whose lot is to declare the Muslim populace as Kuffaar gthe like of Abdullaah Faisal al-Jamaykee], have been on a rampage declaring Muslims as unbelievers for one alleged innovation or the other. Reports from trustworthy people that have got to us indicate that their harm is even more than we had thought.
A trustworthy brother (name withheld for a security reason) who resides in Abeokuta, Ogun State, said a group of the Jabtawis nearly killed him sometime last year. For what reason? He said they came to enquire from him, after a debate he had with them and being a little caller to the Deen, what he understood as regard the use of spoon and fork when eating; whether it was an innovation in the Deen or not. He said he replied that he did not know it as an innovation, he said after that,
‘…they attacked me in my residence, brutally beat me & strangled me nearly to death. It was the people around that rescued me.’
He said the matter eventually became a police case and those criminals had to be put in the police custody for two days before they were released on bail upon the promise that they would not repeat the act.
Another brother (name also withheld) from Oyo told me many other havocs they are wrecking in the ancient town. While some of what he said confirmed the reports we published in the introduction to these refutations, he told us several other things that included their takfeeree recklessness; he said they have refrained from praying behind many of the Muslims because of one innovation or the other.
If a Jabtawi sees a Imaam of a Masjid using a bead (sub’ah), he will instantly refrain from praying behind him and will pass the information across to his other comrades in the ignorant endeavour. He specifically confirmed their act of re-staging aqdun-nikaah upon the belief that the fathers of their wives are kuffaar so any Nikaah they solemnize must be re-staged and solemnized by their head representing Jabata in their locality.
There is one individual like that in Oyo town heading the Jabtawis who said, according to the brother from Oyo, a trustworthy person who has been known to me from our childhood days, that there is no Zakatul-Fitr for kids; that it is only for the adults! He also said the Eid Prayer must be taken to the bush in the open field; that it is wrong to say it in the praying ground in the cities! The brother said he approached him and asked him if there were any scholar of the time or otherwise who had said the like of what he said; he said, the fateen replied that there are many scholars but he did not mention any of them.
The ‘scholars’ he referred to are the people in the Jabtawi Enclave not the people of Sunnah, as far as we know. In fact, many of them have made themleves muftis passing religious verdicts. Their grand-mufti is of course Muhammad Awwal Jabata.
That reminds me of the other one, in Lagos, who wrote a book on the Eid Prayer and said there emphatically that the Takbeeraat of the Eidayn is one; not seven-five!
Thus as they are reckless in their ‘fatawa’ on Islamic jurisprudence so also they are reckless on their ‘fatawa’ on Islamic ‘Aqeedah.
The danger in their ‘fatawa’ does not end in mere passing of those verdicts rather they want everybody to align with them on their thoughts and fiqh, if you do otherwise you become a mubtadi, and a mubtadi with them is a kaafir completely out of the Deen, ‘laa shakka.’
The Jabtawis are people of self-desires; they follow nothing but illusions heaped on them by their philosopher-teacher, Muhammad Awwal Jabata whom a trustworthy brother said he asked a question on the permissibility or otherwise of constant observation of Salaatud-Duhaa, the brother said that in a conversation he had with him, that he asked him about the hadith:
لا يحافظ على صلاة الضحى إلا أواب
‘None will guide over Salaat-Duhaa except a repenting-slave to Allaah…’ [a hadith graded Sahîh by Ash-Shaykh al-Albaanee in As-Saheehah (4/648)].
That if ‘guiding over Salaatud-Duhaa’ is not tantamount to being constant over it? He said Jabata grumbling replied that the hadith did not imply being constant over the salaah. A very glaring weak answer that could not have come from a person of knowledge.
If you don’t know, it is the view of Jabata that being constant on Salatu-Duhaa is bid’ah that takes one out of the Deen.
To end this, in our last article where we brought the statements of proofs and explanations of the scholars of the Deen that destroy the claim of Jabata that every act of bid’ah takes one out of the Deen, one of his ignorant followers who deceptively adds the noble appellation ‘As Salafi’ to his name declared me an innovator which he eventually transferred to Kufr, as normal with his ilk; he said I wrote that the Deen of Islam is the Deen of scholars therefore I had meant the scholars are more important than the Lawgiver of Islam, so without giving me any excuse he said inter alia,
'Wallahi aba amir u are an innovator lah shaka fii...'
Well it was no surprise that he declared me an innovator. Who am I compared with Al-Imaam Abu Haneefah, Al-Haafidh Ibn Hajar, al-Haafidh As-Suyootee whom they joyfully and recklessly declare as innovators-kuffaar?
We however felt we should go on educating the Muslim populace so that they do not fall into their traps. Alhamdulillah, for the words of encouragement that have been flying in from all quarters, from teachers and fellow students. We ask Allaah to make us steadfast, and we sincerely pray to Him to bring back the Jabtawis and their teacher to what is more correct.
Or, that He the Mighty the Irresistible should break their backs and make them forgotten issue in South-West Nigeria.
Insha Allaah, our next write-up is to demolish the absolute claim that there is no ‘excuse for anyone in the matters of ‘Aqeedah or otherwise.’
