Allaah the Mighty Lord says (in the interpretation of the meanings):
“And never will the Jews or the Christians be pleased with you until you follow their religion. Say: Verily, the guidance of Allah is the only guidance.”(Sūrah al-Baqarah: 120)
In the age of deception and misguidance, one of the most alarming trends in contemporary religion and politics is the rise of Christian Zionism, a belief system wherein certain Christian sects, particularly Evangelicals, interpret their distorted scriptures to claim that supporting the modern state of Israel, in the stolen lands, is a divine obligation.
From the correct Islamic perspective, such beliefs not only contradict the pure Tawḥīd of all the Prophets, but also represent a dangerous religious fanaticism masquerading as faith.
What Is Christian Zionism?
Christian Zionism is rooted in Protestant Evangelical theology which interprets the Bible, corrupted as it is through centuries of distortion, as prophesying the return of Jews to Palestine and the establishment of Israel as a precursor to the “Second Coming” of Jesus (ʿĪsā, ʿalayhi as-salām).
They cite some biblical passages verses such as Genesis 12:3 and Revelation 20 to argue that Christians must support Israel to be blessed.
The Islamic creed, however, rejects the validity of these texts due to their clear contradiction of the final revelation: the Qur’ān, and due to the distortion (taḥrīf) that befell the previous scriptures, as Allah the Mighty said:
“Do you hope that they will believe in you while a party of them used to hear the Word of Allah then they altered it knowingly after they understood it?”( Sūrah al-Baqarah: 75)
Why Christian Zionism Is a Falsehood in Light of Islam
1. The Covenant of Allah Is With the Righteous, Not Ethnic Lineage
Christian Zionists falsely claim that Jews have a divine right to the land of Palestine based on ancestry. But in Islam, al-Walāʾ wa-l-Barāʾ teaches us that allegiance is not based on race or bloodline, but on sound ʿAqīdah and obedience to Allah.
“Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.” (Sūrah al-Ḥujurāt: 13)
This obliterates the racial nationalism of Zionism.
The Qur’ān is clear that the favor of Allah was revoked from Banu Isrāʾīl due to their disobedience, transgressions, and rejection of the final Prophet ﷺ:
“So because of their breaking the covenant, We cursed them and made their hearts hard...” (Sūrah al-Mā’idah: 13)
Hence, they have no religious claim upon the land or the Sharīʿah.
2. Misrepresentation of ʿĪsā (Jesus), ʿAlayhi as-Salām
Christian Zionists promote a fabricated eschatology where Jesus returns to serve the Jewish state. This is not only false, but blasphemous. According to authentic aḥādīth, ʿĪsā (ʿalayhi as-salām) will return to break the cross, kill the pigs, abolish the jizyah, and rule by the Sharīʿah of Muḥammad ﷺ—not to uphold the Zionist regime or any man-made constitution.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, the son of Maryam will soon descend among you as a just ruler. He will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the jizyah...”( Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, 2222)
The return of ʿĪsā will be a victory for Islam, not for Zionism.
Christian Zionism Is Fanaticism
The fanatic nature of this movement becomes evident in its blind support for the Zionist occupation of Muslim lands, its justification of crimes against Palestinian Muslims, and its belief that war in the Middle East will hasten divine salvation. These are satanic distortions, not divine plans.
Jerry Falwell, a leading Christian Zionist, said: “To stand against Israel is to stand against God. We believe that history and scripture prove that God deals with nations in relation to how they deal with Israel.” You can find it here.
Also John Hagee, said before an audience in 2005: :
".. the Nazis were divine agents sent by God to chase Europe’s Jews toward Palestine.”
Rev. Munther Isaac qouted am unnamed Christian Zionist as saying:" If Palestinians refuse to recognise what God says about the Jewish people and their connection to the land of Israel, then suffering would result.”
Christian Zionists call for wars, bloodshed, and oppression under the guise of religious prophecy. This is in stark opposition to the message of all the Prophets, which was based on Tawḥīd and justice.
“And We sent down the Book to you in truth so that you may judge between people by what Allah has shown you. So do not be an advocate for the treacherous.”( Sūrah an-Nisā’: 105)
Supporting the occupiers of al-Quds and the killers of Muslim innocents is not faith, it is betrayal of Allah, His Messenger, and the Muslim Ummah.
The Sunnah Stance: Clarity in al-Walāʾ wa-l-Barāʾ
The noble scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah have long warned against aligning with the enemies of Allah. The alliance of some Muslim governments, organizations, or individuals with Christian Zionists under the pretext of interfaith tolerance is a form of Muwālāt (alliance) which the Sharīʿah forbids.
“O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are but allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you—then indeed, he is [one] of them.”( Sūrah al-Mā’idah: 51)
This is not extremism, it is the balance of the Sharʿī position. We do not oppress them, nor do we accept their falsehood. We disassociate from their shirk and kufr, while maintaining just dealings (ʿadl) with those who do not fight us.
Return to the Path of the Prophets
Christian Zionism is a modern-day fusion of political imperialism and religious innovation. It has nothing to do with the religion of ʿĪsā (ʿalayhi as-salām), who was a Muwaḥḥid, a Muslim, and a Prophet upon the pure message of Tawḥīd. Nor does it have any place in Islamic theology or justice.
From the Sunnah standpoint, we call upon Muslims to:
Not be swayed by this distorted movement and its propaganda.
Hold fast to the Qur’ān and authentic Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf.
Maintain loyalty to the Muslim Ummah and barāʾah from the enemies of Allah.
Speak the truth clearly and patiently, even when it is unpopular.
“Say: This is my path—I call to Allah upon clear insight (baṣīrah), I and those who follow me.”( Sūrah Yūsuf: 108)
May Allah expose the falsehood of the Zionists, guide the sincere among the Christians to Islam, and grant victory to the Ummah of Muḥammad ﷺ.
