On the authority of Abu-l-Fadhl az-Zujaaj who said:
"When Shaafi'ee - rahmatullaah alayhi - arrived Baghdad and there were forty something or fifty halaqaat (circles of learning); so when he arrived he was going round sitting in one halqah to the other and telling them:
"Allaah said...and the Prophet said..."
While they would say: "Our comrades (of the same school of thought) said..."
Till there was no halqah left in the masjid except that of Shaafi'ee.

He - may Allaah have mercy on him - once said: 'When you see the tradition of the Prophet - sallallaahu alahyi wa sallam - follow it and do not bother about anyone.'
