Being the English Rendition of the Text of Khutbah Delivered by Al-Ustaadh Nurudeen (Aboo Ja'far) on Friday 27th Rabiul Thaanee, 1440 (4th January, 2019) at Masjid Tawheed, Ede, Osun State, Nigeria.

All praise is due to Allah, we praise Him, we seek His help and we seek His forgiveness, we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of ourselves, and from the sins of our actions. Whoever Allah guides (to the straight path), there’s no one who can lead him astray, and whoever Allah leads astray, there’s no one who can guide him (to the straight path). I bear witness that there’s none worthy of worship except Allah and that the Prophet Muhammad (Sallaahlaahu ‘alayhi was salaam) is Allah’s slave and messenger.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِۦ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسۡلِمُونَ آل عمران: ١٠٢
“O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]”. [Al 'Imran:102]
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفۡسٖ وَٰحِدَةٖ وَخَلَقَ مِنۡهَا زَوۡجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنۡهُمَا رِجَالٗا كَثِيرٗا وَنِسَآءٗۚ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِي تَسَآءَلُونَ بِهِۦ وَٱلۡأَرۡحَامَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ رَقِيبٗا النساء: ١
As for what follows, certainly the most truthful of words is the words of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallaahlaahu ‘alayhi was salaam) and the worst of matters are the innovated matters, certainly every innovated matter is Bid’iah, and every Bid’iah is misguidance and every misguidance is in the hell.
The right of Allaah upon His Slaves, the reason why He created them, is that they should worship Him and never associate with him anything in worship, Allaah the all-Mighty says:
۞وَٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُشۡرِكُواْ بِهِۦ شَيۡٔٗاۖ
“Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him.”
It is because of this Allaah provides sustenance, made flat the earth, brings down rain from the sky, brought forth the plants from the soils and He flourished upon them His Blessings, apparent and abstract, Allaah the all-Mighty says:
ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِرَٰشٗا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءٗ وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَخۡرَجَ بِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ رِزۡقٗا لَّكُمۡۖ فَلَا تَجۡعَلُواْ لِلَّهِ أَندَادٗا وَأَنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ البقرة: ٢٢
“[He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]". [Al Baqarah:22].
And because of this great right, Allaah sent His Messengers as givers of glad tidings and warner from the punishment, Allaah the all-Mighty says:
وَلَقَدۡ بَعَثۡنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٖ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجۡتَنِبُواْ ٱلطَّٰغُوتَۖ فَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ وَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ حَقَّتۡ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةُۚ فَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ [ النحل: ٣٦
“And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allah and avoid Taghut." And among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.” [An Nahl:36].
The Truthful Muslim, upon him is to establish the Oneness of Allaah in its three divisions, Allaah the all-Mighty says:
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا فَٱعۡبُدۡهُ وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ لِعِبَٰدَتِهِۦۚ هَلۡ تَعۡلَمُ لَهُۥ سَمِيّٗا [ مريم: ٦٥
“Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him?" [Maryam:65].
My brothers in the path of Allaah, know may Allaah be merciful upon me and you, that your Lord the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful had perfected the returning abode of the monotheist, Allaah the all-Mighty says:
لِّلَّذِينَ أَحۡسَنُواْ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ وَزِيَادَةٞۖ وَلَا يَرۡهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمۡ قَتَرٞ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡجَنَّةِۖ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ يونس: ٢٦
“For them who have done good is the best [reward] and extra. No darkness will cover their faces, nor humiliation. Those are companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally” [Yunus:26].
Al-Imaam at-Tirmidhii (may Allaah have mercy upon him reported from Anass bn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet Muhammad (Sallaahlaahu ‘alayhi was salaam) said: Allaah the Most High said:
((يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّكَ لَو آتَيْتَنِي بِقُرَابِ الأَرْضِ خَطَايَا ثُمَ لَقِيتَنِي لَا تُشْرِكُ بِي شَيْئًا لأَتَيْتُكَ بِقُرَابِهَا مَغْفِرَةً))
Oh You son of Aadam, if you come to me with that which fiils the earth with sins, after then you meet me not associating anything with me in worship, I will come to you with that which fills it (the Earth) with forgiveness. Reported by at-Tirmidhii, graded authentic by al-Albaanii.
All praise is due to Allah, we praise Him, we seek Allaah’s Blessing and Salutation upon the Prophet Muhammad (Sallaahlaahu ‘alayhi was salaam), His Household, His Companions and those who follows His path. Oh You Muslims, know! may Allaah be merciful upon me and you, that there is no injustice similar to the injustice of the polytheist and the disbeliever with Allaah, Allaah the all-Mighty says:
وَإِذۡ قَالَ لُقۡمَٰنُ لِٱبۡنِهِۦ وَهُوَ يَعِظُهُۥ يَٰبُنَيَّ لَا تُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّ ٱلشِّرۡكَ لَظُلۡمٌ عَظِيمٞ [ لقمان: ۱٣
” Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice." [Luqman:13].
Associating partners with Allaah destroys good deeds and it makes the perpetrator dwell forever in the hell, the Prophets also warned against its evils. Allaah the all-Mighty says after mentioning a few of the Prophets and the most virtuous amongst them, He the all-Mighty says:
وَلَوۡ أَشۡرَكُواْ لَحَبِطَ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ [ الأنعام: ٨٨
“That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whomever He wills of His servants. But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing. [Al An'am:88].
The sensible, the smart protect and distance themselves from this great evil, associating partners with Allaah, we seek form Allaah deliverance, good health, firmness upon the oneness of Allaah until death. May the glorification and peace of Allaah be upon the Nobel Prophet Muhammad and Allaah praise is due to Allaah.
