Explanation of the Perfect Names and the Lofty Attributes

[37] AL-MŪMIN

"Allah the exalted said:

هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرَُ
He is Allah than Whom there is La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) the King, the Holy, the One Free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme" - Surah Al-Hashr:23

Al-Mūmin
A testifier to the messengers and those who follows them by His tesfication of truth for them, and by what He set in place as authorization for their sincerity. He is the One who accords the whole of security in this life and the hereafter, He is the securer of those who believe in Him from being prejudiced or punished or being crushed by a mountain on the day of resurrection.

Points from the Exemplary Principles:

Bin Al-Uthaymeen said in Qawā'id al-Muthlā: Principles regarding the attributes of Allah.

The seventh principle: The attributes of Allah —the exalted— are Tawqifiyyah, no station for intellectual deductions in them.

And the proofs from the book and the sunnah on the establishment of the attributes are in three (3) modes:

3) A declaration of an action or a description that implies the attribute: As it's the case with "Al-Istiwaa alaa al-arsh (ascension over the majestic throne), "An-Nuzuul ilaa samaa'-il dunya (descent to the heaven of the earth)", "Al-Majee'u li-fasli bayna al-ibaad yawmi al-qiyaamah (coming to adjudicate between the slaves on the day of resurrection", "Al-Intiqaam minn-al-mujrimeen (taking reprisal from the evildoers)". The proofs alluding to these in succession are as follows:

Allah's statement:

"The Most Beneficent (Allah) Istawa (rose over) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty)". - Surah Ta-Ha 5

And the prophet's statement:

ينزل ربنا إلى السماء الدنيا
"Our Lord descends to the earth's heaven" - Bukhari:1145, Muslim:758
And Allah's statement:
وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا
"And your Lord comes with the angels in rows," - Surah Al-Fajr:22
And His statement:
"Verily, We shall exact retribution from the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.)" - Surah As-Sajdah:22

[38] AL-HAFĪZ

Allah the exalted said:

إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَفِيظٌ
"Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things." - Surah Hud: 57

Al-Hafīz
Is He who guard and protect His believing slaves and their deeds out of His favour, and nurtures and protects all creatures out of His might.

Points from the Exemplary Principles:

Bin Al-Uthaymeen said in Qawā'id al-Muthlā: Principles regarding the attributes of Allah

The seventh principle: The attributes of Allah —the exalted— are Tawqifiyyah, no station for intellectual deductions in them.

Are the Attributes Tawqifiyyah in the same sense as the Names?

Response: There have been statements regarding this by those before us and we have been informed that the attributes are of three (3) categories:

1) Kamaal mahd (The totally pure)
2) Naqs mahd (The deficient in purity)
3) Kamaal fiy ahli duuna ahlin (Perfect in some conditions but not in others).

As for those which are totally pure, then Allah is described by them.

As for those which are deficient in their purity, Allah is not to be described by them in those circumstances in which their purity is deficient, and He is not to be described by them unrestricted.

Therefore the Attributes are not tawqifiyyah in the same sense as the Names, this is why it is obtainable to derive attributes from every action from the Actions of Allah.

[39] AL-WAKĪL

Allah the exalted said:

فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَقَالُوا حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
"But it (only) increased them in Faith, and they said: "Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is ni'ma Al-Wakīl (the Best Disposer of affairs) (for us)."" - Surah Aale-Imraan: 173

Al-Wakīl
He is the One responsible for all the dwellers of the world and in charge of their creation and administration, surely He is the One who ensures it's creation, subsistent and equipped, and He is the Trustee of the believers who put their affairs in His charge before their strivings, and asks Him for aid immediately after they earn, and thank Him with appreciation after their success, and who are contented with the allotment after tribulation.

Then we say verily  Allah drives the clouds; due to his statement:

"See you not that Allah drives the clouds gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap of layers, and you see the rain comes forth from between them. And He sends down from the sky hail (like) mountains, (or there are in the heaven mountains of hail from where He sends down hail), and strike therewith whom He will, and averts it from whom He wills. The vivid flash of its (clouds) lightning nearly blinds the sight." - Surah An-Nur:43

And also say indeed Allah plots against whoever plot against Him; due to His statement:

وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اللَّهُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ
"they were plotting and Allah too was plotting, and Allah is the Best of the planners" - Surah Al-Anfal:30

Again Allah mocks whoever jest Him; according to His statement:

اللَّهُ يَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ
"Allah mocks at them" - Surah Al-Baqarah:15

In response to those who said:

إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُسْتَهْزِئُونَ
"verily, we were but mocking." -  Surah Al-Baqarah:14

Once again we say Allah deceives whoever deceives Him; according to His statement:

إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يُخَادِعُونَ اللَّهَ وَهُوَ خَادِعُهُمْ
"Verily, the hypocrites seek to deceive Allah, but it is He Who deceives them." - Surah An-Nisaa:142

And on that is a hideous response (to them).
