Tauheed is Allâh's Right that cannot be compromised. But why is it being underestimated by the lords of (various) methodologies today? Is Allâh's Right not more deserving of doors being opened for, and the plain be widened for (than their whims and caprices)?
Said Ibn Al-Qayyim – may Allâh bestow mercy on him:
Tauheed is the key of the Messengers' Call…'
Then he mentioned the hadith of Muaadh earlier cited (in the last edition). [See Madaarikus-Saalikeen, 3/443].
Thus Tauheed is the call of all the Messengers of Allâh. May Allâh therefore not widen the heart that constricts itself from that.
Allâh the Majestic said:
"Indeed, we sent Nûh (Noah) to his people and he said: "O my people! Worship Allâh! You have no other Ilâh (God) but Him." [A'raaf: 59].
"And to 'Ad (people, We sent) their brother Hûd. He said: "O my people! Worship Allâh! You have no other Ilâh (God) but Him." [A'raaf: 65].
"And to Thamûd (people, We sent) their brother Sâlih (Saleh). He said: "O my people! Worship Allâh! You have no other Ilâh (God) but Him." [A'raaf: 73].
"And to (the people of) Madyan (Midian), (We sent) their brother Shu'aib. He said: "O my people! Worship Allâh! You have no other Ilâh (God) but Him. " [A'raaf: 85].
And on it went irrespective of the people to whom the Messengers were sent and irrespective of their problems. Thus, the call to is the basis; whether the people's problem is economic as it was in the case of the people of Madyan; or problem of character as it was in the case of the people of Lut – Allâh's mercy on him.
I need not mention (that was the basis of the call) even when the problem (encountered by the Messengers from their people) had been political because all those nations whom the Messengers were sent were not ruling by what Allâh had revealed.
And it is not permissible to extinguish the light of this golden call (to ) today upon the claim that has been established in the hearts of the people. Can't you hear the supplication of the Imam of the monotheists, Ibrahim Al-Khaleel (Alayhi Salaam) when he himself was afraid of Shir'k upon his soul; he said:
"And (remember) when Ibrâhim (Abraham) said: "O My Lord! Make this city (Makkah) one of peace and security, and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.
"O my Lord! They have indeed led astray many among mankind…" [Ibrâhim: 35-36]. Mughirah b. Miqsam said:
"Ibrahim At-Taymee used to narrate stories to the people, and would always say in his tales: 'Who is safe from trial after Khaleelu-Llah Ibrahim when he said: 'My Lord keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols?'" [Ibn Jarir reported it in his Tafsir; 8/460].
Ash-Shaykh Mubaarak Al-Mailiyy said:
'The Messenger of Allâh – sallalahu alahy wa sallam - did not cease from disparaging the idols even when he was the only one doing that.
He did not overlook them (the idols) when he was banished to the mountain pass for those three grueling years.
He did not forget them while he was hiding in the course of his Hijrah and while the enemy was giving him a hot pursuit.
He did not stop talking about them when he became victorious in his City and when he was in the mid of his helpers.
He did not close the door of discussion on them after Makkah was liberated.
He did not get pre-occupied away from them while he was in the battlefront making use of all battle stratagems.
(At Hudaybiyyah,) he was not contented with his Companions' mere oath of allegiance to fight along with him but rather he asked them to incorporate their oath with (holding to) and uprooting Shir'k from its basis.
