She was Amrah bint AbdirRahman bin Sa'd bin Zuraarah Al-Ansariyyah Al-Madaniyyah, the jurist.
The mother of the trustworthy narrator Abu Rijaal Muhammad bin AbdirRahman Al-Ansaaree. She grew up in the household of our mother, Aishah, and was her protégé and pupil. It was said her father was a Companion. Her grandfather, Sa'd, was one of the leading Companions and brother of the well-known As'ad bin Zuraraah.
She narrated from Aisha, Umm Salamah, Raafi' bin Khudaij and from her sister, Umm Hishaam bint Haarithah. Her son, Abu Rijaal Muhammad bin AbdirRahman and his sons: Haaritha and Maalik, her nephew the judge, Abu Bakr bin Hazm, his sons, Abdullaah and Muhammad, Al-Imaam Az-Zuhree, Yahya bin Saeed Al-Ansaree and others narrated from her.
Alee bin Al-Madeenee said: 'Amrah was one of the trustworthy and reliable authorities on the narrations of 'Aishah.'
Al-Imaam Ibn Hibaan mentioned her among the trustworthy narrators in his book.
The historian, Ibn Sa'd said: 'She was a scholar.'
The Khaleefah, Umar bin Abdil-Azeez, directed her nephew Abu Bakr Ibn Hazm to compile the hadeeth of 'Amrah (and this was the beginning of documentation of hadeeth).
Sufyaan said: 'The most trustworthy authorities on the hadeeth of 'Aishah are: 'Amrah, Al-Qaasim and 'Urwah.'
She was a scholar, jurist, proof with vast knowledge. Al-Imaam Ibn Shihaab Az-Zuhree said Al-Imam Qaasim bin Muhammad said to him: 'O young man! I see you have a pronounced passion for knowledge; shall I not direct you to its vessel?' I said, 'Yes.' He said: 'Take to Amrah; she was in the house of Aishah.' So I went to her and I found her an ocean that does not diminish.'
There is disagreement over time of her death; some said 98AH while others said 106AH at age 77.
Her narrations are abundant in the compendia of Islam including the six canonical books of narrations.
